Description

Making bath bombs in wet, rainy weather can be so frustrating!

Suggested for making bath bombs in an average ambient humidity of 50% and above with best results at 60% and above.

If you live in an area with constant high humidity, then you’ll need a recipe that can hang day in and day out without failing, warting, cracking or crumbling.

I make bath bombs in the rain. Not out in the rain per se, but it will for sure be raining outside, and there’s me inside making bath bombs like a boss. If I had to wait for the humidity to drop, then I would just be making soap. Living on the Gulf Coast of Texas is bad enough. We have hurricanes and a tropical climate that is oppressive. You can step outside and immediately be drenched in sweat from the 80-90% humidity we face nearly year round. I seriously have questions about the people who decided to drain a swamp, build a city, then name it Houston. I have even more questions about the people who decided to stay here before the advent of air conditioning. But I digress.

My original recipe was much simpler and a gift from my friend who made bath bombs that I loved. The problem was, she lives in an arid climate and the recipe wouldn’t work for me. The bath bombs cracked and turned to piles of fragrant dust. This started the journey of a thousand notebooks. Well, maybe not that many, but there were definitely pages and pages of notes as I tweaked this recipe out. There were certain elements I wanted to include. I loved the way Kaolin clay felt in the water. There were certain standards I wanted to meet. I wanted bath bombs that really lasted a long time. And above all, I needed them to work. All the time. Every time. Rain or shine. And they do!

I make these bath bombs all the time in humidity at 70% and above! Hopefully they will help others who live in wet swampy environments as well!

Because of the unique formulation, very little binder is needed and the batches won’t dry out mid-process, even when making multi colored bath bombs, however, they still dry rock hard!

Many people have commented on this while watching me (Robyn) make bath bombs live, and this recipe has been requested over and over… so here it is! We hope you enjoy making with it and please share your creations with us in the Bath Fizz and Foam Facebook Group.

I purchased this recipe it took me a few weeks to get around to it. I finally work on a project, at first I Didn’t use a mixer…second time around I used one and it makes a difference. I love this recipe! Made the guess work for me easy with this recipe! Recommend!

I got this recipe through the Father’s Day Boot camp classes and I absolutely love it! I made a few tweaks, based on where I live, that I only make vegan products, and how wet or dry I need my mix in order to work with my molds. That being said, this recipe as written is pretty fail-proof! I highly recommend this and pretty much anything Robyn concocts – she’s a (evil?) genius and your customers will thank you!

Hands down best recipe I have used and it will now be my go to! I live on Vancouver Island and its always humid here and I get perfect rock hard bombs even if its raining out! Highly recommend!

  4. Renee McNair

I got Robyn’s recipe in Bubble Boot Camp and it works! I tried bath bombs once before and failed miserably. This recipe was a win from the first batch! Love how it feels in the bath and so do my customers.

I got this recipe as part of one of the bubble bootcamps (which I cannot recommend highly enough – SO MUCH great info, but I digress; this is feedback for this recipe, not the bootcamps). I admit I was torn about changing up my recipe, because I already had a great recipe that I loved, but I thought I’d try it out anyway. This one is FANTASTIC!I don’t live in a humid environment (I’m in the Toronto, Canada area), so I tweaked it a tiny bit (a bit less oil…but literally a BIT) and it stays the right consistency throughout my molding time!!! It usually is the perfect consistency after mixing, so I rarely have to use binder. And if I do, so far, I haven’t had to wet it at all halfway through making my bombs! My other recipes always dried out a bit as I was working, and it was kind of annoying to have to get the right consistency again. (And sometimes, I’d have to give up – it just couldn’t get back to where I needed it.)

All above is about the making process, but maybe you’re curious about the results? This recipe has several ingredients that help add lots of foam to your bath bomb. And let me tell you – the show goes on and on and on! Most of mine last at least 10 minutes!!!! I feel great offering this product to my customers – I feel like they’re getting their money’s worth.

I was having a hard time with my recipe and bought this one because I knew Robyns recipe would help me produce instead of trying my own with trial and error I like how the butters make my bath water feel. It was a game changer mine were powdery and struggled to harden definitely would recommend the directions are also super helpful with the pics

We stay in South Africa, at the coast in Cape Town…. this is the ONLY recipy that works!! Thanks Robin!

Game changer! I live in a humid area plus live next to a full time running creek and we are also located in a river bottom-so humidity is always an issue. After using this recipe I’ve had zero issues. Highly recommend.

Some days you just have to make product and Mother Nature gives you days of endless rain. This recipe makes life easier. This is my rainy season go to recipe. With minor tweaking I can use it year round.

I have purchased and tried many recipes before this one. This really is the most amazing recipe! I’m in Alabama, not only do I not have to use an extra binder but they come out perfectly. The mixture doesn’t dry out half way through making… buy it, you won’t be sorry.

Best bathbomb recipe we’ve ever used. It molds like a dream. We were unable to do detailed molds before this recipe, but once we started using it, it opened up a whole new world of possibilities. 100% a game changer!

After struggling for months to make a decent bathbomb in high humidity and trying multiple recipes, I discovered Robyn’s high humidity recipe. Today I smashed out over 500 easter egg bombs in 70% + humidity with no issues at all. Robyn, you are my hero!!

  13. Lahia Chabert

I use Robyn’s recipe when our humidity is above 60%, which is most days (south Louisiana) works like a charm! 🤩

Beyond ecstatic with the results of this recipe. Living only 3 miles from the Kenai river in Alaska means the humidity can damage everything I make.

I was told by a friend, Nectaria, about this recipe. I bought it back in June and hadn’t made the switch yet. Looking back I wonder why.

My husband said on the first try using this… “I didn’t hear one cuss word! I think you need to use this one always.”

He’s not wrong. I’ve gotten nothing but wonderful fed back from family and customers. I can’t thank you enough.

May you continue to be blessed!

hello there. yesterday I bought the recipe and was very excited to try it. everything was great, mixing, molding etc. but after about 30 minutes the first half of the batch started to get softened and the citric acid appeared on the surface. this morning, the same pieces were very soft they did not harden at all. I used the recipe with fine SLSA because this is what I have. can someone explain to me what happened? thank you.

      Hi Shelly!
Thanks so much for supporting and trusting us to help you make amazing bath bombs!

One of the first things we always ask is “What was your humidity like when you were making bath bombs and do you use a dehumidifier?” While this recipe makes working with bath bombs in high humidity much easier, it is not “humid-proof.” When I first started created this recipe it was in a house with central AC and I didn’t need a dehumidifier. Now I work in a small workroom with just a window unit and I do use a dehumidifier.

We also tend to double check that you used a binder when we hear reports of soft bath bombs, but even if you used a binder 24 hours is too short a time to check your bath bombs, particularly with an oil heavy recipe like this one. We try to give them at least 3 days whenever possible.

The best thing we can suggest is to head to our Facebook help group where we can give more timely responses and help you troubleshoot!

Batch size hack. I’ve purchased nearly every one of Robyn’s BB recipes, and if I lived in a dry state her Low Humidity booklet is, by far, my most fav. Not necessarily because of the recipes but I do love the one I’ve made from it, but because of the batch size variations. Im not the fastest at making BB so committing to 17 – 18 at once, particularly when you’re working with your newest cada mold purchases (Hi I’m Linda, and I have the makings of becoming a cadaholic) the full batch is intimidating. And I’m not a fan of excel, however, I did manage to find the percentages of the ingredients and today thanks to Marie of Humble Bee and Me I used those precentages to easily scale down from 17 to 9 to 5 using her batch size tutorial on YouTube.

Im in the SF Bay Area and while it is summer we’ve been pretty muggy. Armed with my scaled down measurements, my sample pack of WSP fos, and way too many untested molds, I now know how I’ll be spending my Saturday. #Winning

Love love love this recipe, and I love in the most humid state it feels like. It works so well it must be magic. If you live in an area that his high moisture then this is the recipe for you, it is a must have. No more warts on bath bombs with this.

I’m super excited for this recipe. I’m in Austin, Texas and our humidity is always all over the place and my dehumidifier can’t keep up on some days.

I’m curious what you would suggest if I wanted to omit the milk powder. Would you just up the corn starch? Thanks in advance!
